What is fascinating about B.B. Cards? (BB)
•Felt the importance of staying in Basic.
•Could look back my teaching
•“Practice Makes Perfect” is the NO.1 learning for me today
•Very informative. Could make wider my view
•You need a lot of patience (when you use B.B. cards)
You need to be a good leader. B.B. cards make me change my teaching
way. Found difficulty in teaching junior high students.
•Teachers should be stable. Trust yourself. If you worry, the kids
will worry. World Cafe was a good opportunity to reflect.
• Now I want to know more about B.B. cards. Want to know how to use it.
•We're going to use it starting from this spring and before today's
session, had a lot of questions about the B.B. cards and how to use them.
After the session, after talking to the members here, another questions
came up. Now I think it may be difficult to teach kids with B.B. cards.
•Impressed by everyone here. I had the feeling of “English.”
As teachers, you should compliment yourselves (cheer!).
BB is very VERSTAILE and FLEXIBLE. Let the students decide what level
they should learn.
•Enjoyed a lot! Especially I liked the morning game part.
Could share different ideas. I 'd like to play more with my students
•Could learn new games and I won the first prize in the morning session!
•Most important thing I learned today is that teacher needs to keep
I have to learn more. It was really good to share new games and ideas.
•Admire Kumiko-sensei. It was my first time to join this study group
meeting. Could meet a lot of BB teachers. Look forward to the next
•There are many ways to use B.B. cards. I am willing to study more
English and B.B. cards.
•Thank you for Kumiko. Learned about motivation. Every student has
talent. I want to make my English class comfortable and happy.
Want to be free in the class.
•I taught English ten years in Oshamambe and moved to Sapporo
last year. I had to leave my students back there. After moving here,
I have got another chance to teach small kids with B.B. cards and now
I feel happy to have the opportunity. Very fascinated to B.B. cards.
•Enjoy coming to this study group meeting every time. I feel very
comfortable here. That is the reason. Every one here is different and we
accept the difference, which is good. Nice to be here. It might be nicer
than B.B. cards.
•Could share new ideas. I am learning to be a teacher now. Inspired by
everyone here. Happy to be here.
•Thank you for having me here. Everyone has already said what I want
to say. I had a good time.
•World Cafe is fun! Good for me. It was really fun!
•We are starting using B.B. cards this spring and before today, we had
a lot of questions and worries. But now I feel very comfortable.
From the facilitator:
This style of study group meeting was our first try. It is because we found out we would have way too many members here. Now I think it was very successful and feel very happy. It is something beyond sharing informa-
tion and technique. It is REALLY BB way, don't you think so?
What do you think of World Cafe style study group meeting after you join it?
I like it very much for everyone can talk here.
I really like it because it is good for the beginners.
☆OSMOSIS [az'mosis] (B.B.カードの特徴？)
It is a scientific word, which explains how plants grow naturally. Turned
to use as a metaphor to show leaning style which implies learning
without intention. Different from “brain washing” which means showering
the same thing again and again.
"People learn by all sorts of methods- traditional school rooms, memori-
zation, teaching, and watching or listening. The latter is the closest to
learning by osmosis as you are absorbing what life offers you or what is
around you.” ( by Philip Blencowe)
It happens so naturally. One thing might go to different directions.
The last comment from the facilitator:
Kids need friends. Teachers need friends, also.．I hope this place will be a comfortable place for everyone.
